HARIPUR: Former district nazim Haripur and Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf ‘s local leader Akhtar Nawaz Khan Jadoon passed away here on Wednesday.
Funeral prayer was offered the same day and he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyards of Bagra.
His namaz-e-janaza was attended by opposition leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan, MNA Ali Khan Jadoon, former MNA Dr Raja Amir Zaman, provincial minister Arshad Ayub Khan, former provincial minister Yousuf Ayub Khan, MPA Malik Adeel Khan, chairmen of different village councils, lawyers and his supporters.
He was 63 and left behind a widow, three daughters and two sons to mourn his death.
Family sources said that Akhtar Nawaz Khan was diagnosed with lung cancer two months back and was under treatment when his condition deteriorated last week and he was shifted to Shifa International Hospital Islamabad, where he breathed his last during the early hours of Wednesday.
Akhtar Nawaz Khan served as a member district council for a long time after his election from his native area of Bagra Durakhshel.
