LAKKI MARWAT: A woman here on Sunday alleged that the Lakki police arrested her husband from his house in Islamabad on March 14 and kept him in illegal detention for about two weeks.
Speaking at a press conference here, Naheeda Ali said that the police framed her husband Aftab Ahmad in a false case of kidnapping and murder of one Shoaib Qureshi.
She said that the police misbehaved with her family members, aimed weapons at them and snatched four mobile phones from them.
She said the police tortured her husband during physical remand granted by a local court.
Flanked by her son Abdullah, former city nazim Naimatullah Khan Khoidadkhel Advocate and other women relatives, the woman said that her husband was being made a scapegoat to save the skin of real culprits involved in the kidnaping and murder of Shoaib Qureshi.
She said that her husband had been implicated in a robbery case that took place at his uncle’s house two months ago even though he was in Islamabad at the time.
Naimatullah Khan Advocate said that Aftab was produced before a local court when a delegation of lawyers led by him took up his illegal detention with police officials.
“The judicial magistrate remanded Aftab in police custody for two days though police had requested for his 15-day physical remand,” he claimed, adding the police could not prove anything against Aftab.
Khan said that police had mishandled the murder case by falsely implicating an innocent citizen.
