MANSEHRA: The deployment of male and female police personnel has been beefed up across the district to thwart any untoward incidents during the holy month of Ramazan.
“We have devised a comprehensive security plan for Ramazan and deployed lady police constables to ensure the safety of women coming for shopping during the month,” District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters here on Tuesday.
The DPO visited various bazaars, checking the security measures implemented under his Ramazan security plan. The DPO interacted with shoppers and police personnel on Ramazan duty, distributing dates, drinks, and other items for iftar.
He said that police personnel were being deployed to guard Taraveeh prayers, as both the inspector general of police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the deputy inspector general (DIG) of Police Hazara Range have instructed for foolproof security for worshippers.
“We have increased patrolling on the Karakoram Highway, Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road, and other link roads to ensure the safety of passengers,” Gandapur added. The DPO further said that lady police constables would work alongside their male counterparts to provide foolproof security to women at local bazaars and markets.
“We have also increased the number of traffic wardens in Mansehra, Balakot, Oghi, Baffa-Pakhal, and Darband tehsils to ensure smooth traffic flow during Ramazan,” he added. He said that Station House Officers (SHOs) of all 17 police stations across the district would personally monitor security in their respective areas and ensure that no strangers could rent buildings without fulfilling the requirements set by the government under the National Action Plan.
