PESHAWAR: Five persons were killed when rivals allegedly opened fire on their car in Mashokhel village in the provincial capital in the wee hours of Sunday.
Officials of Badaber Police Station said five persons identified as Malik Aman, Naheed, Maqsood, Imdad and Razim Khan of Mashukhel’s Mohalla Anizi were on their way when the rivals targetted their car, killing all of them on the spot.
Police have lodged a case against Imtiaz, Ali Gohar, Sarfaraz, Shoaib, Gohar and others of the same locality. The officials said the two parties had been harboring a longstanding enmity. The local police reached the spot after the incident and shifted the bodies for post-mortem
A case was registered on the complaint of Malik Arshad while raids were being conducted on the possible hideouts of the accused, said an official.Hundreds of lives are lost each year due to enmities in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The number of casualties has risen in recent years due to the growing prevalence of gun culture.
