MANSEHRA: The residents and local government representatives on Saturday took to the streets to protest against the scarcity of potable water in the city and its suburbs.

“The population settled in the interior parts of the city and bazaars have been suffering from an acute shortage of water, but the Tehsil Municipal Administration has failed to address this core issue,” Abdul Waheed, chairman of Neighborhood Council No-I, told protesters assembled at Kashmir Road.

The protesters, including elderly citizens, raised slogans in support of their demands.

“Ramazan is around the corner, and we have been without potable water for many weeks as the TMA has suspended supply from its schemes,” Waheed said. He added that one of the water supply schemes proposed by the TMA to provide water to urban areas had already been completed, but the authorities had yet to make it functional causing further hardship for residents.
