PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtu-nkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed on Wednesday said that no effort would be spared to ensure the welfare of the cops.
Addressing a darbar at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines here, he said that the welfare of the police force was his first priority and no effort would be spared to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police an ideal force in terms of privileges and facilities. Capital City Police Officer Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan received the IGP on arrival at the police lines.
Zulfiqar Hameed said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had rendered unmatched sacrifices for the restoration of peace in the province.The IGP directed the police officers to lead the subordinates from the front. He said he was aware of the problems and challenges faced by the cops in the line of duty.
The police chief said the salaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force and police martyrs’ package would be brought on a par with other provinces. He said for this purpose, necessary summaries had been sent to the provincial government. The IGP urged the policemen to maintain the sanctity of the uniform. “Deal with the anti-social elements with an iron hand and support the weak and the helpless,” he said.
He said that it was the right of people to live in a peaceful society and the role of the police was to protect them. He expressed the hope that they would soon overcome all difficulties and ensure a peaceful society. In the police darbar, the officers and jawans of every rank, especially the Khyber district police officers, presented their personal and collective problems.
The IGP instructed the officials concerned to resolve some issues and sought early response from them on other matters.Earlier, Capital City Police Officer Qasim Ali Khan, while delivering the welcome speech, shed light on the sacrifices of Peshawar and Khyber. He said that more than 2000 police officers and jawans have been martyred in the war against terrorism, while thousands of civilians also sacrificed lives.
