KHAR: The chairmen of village and tehsil councils on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the provincial government for not transferring them funds and powers to serve their electorate.
Led by Khar Tehsil Council Chairman Said Badshah, dozens of village and tehsil councils’ chairmen gathered outside the Bajaur Press Club and chanted slogans against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf provincial government and in favour of their demands.
The participants criticised the provincial government’s alleged unfair treatment and demanded funds and powers for the elected local government representatives.Said Badshah urged the provincial government to stop its unjust behavior towards the chairmen and grant them their rights or else they would launch a strong protest movement.
Besides others, chairmen Farooq Khan, Zahoor Ahmad Utmankhel and dozens of VCs’ chairmen participated in the protest. SHOs TRANSFERRED: Several station house officers were transferred and posted in the district as per the notification issued by District Police Officer (DPO), Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq.
According to the notification, Khar Police Station SHO Saeedur Rehman was recalled to the police lines while Rasheed Khan was posted in his place as the new SHO.Similarly, Nawagai Police Station SHO Sher Alam was assigned the duty of Lines Officer while Sher Zameen was posted as SHO in Charmang Police Station, Bacha Rehman as SHO in Loisam, Mustafa Kamal in Salarzai, Rahat Ali in Nawagai, Zahir Shah in Arang and Abdul Raziq as SHO in Utmankhel Police Station.
