PESHAWAR: Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud has directed the Revenue Department to fast-track land acquisition for the Southern Link Road Expressway from Peshawar to Torkham, ensuring swift construction of the long-awaited project.
He also instructed the district administration and the National Highways Authority to engage with affected landowners, expedite compensation, and remove administrative hurdles.
Chairing a meeting attended by MPA Samiullah, General Manager Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority, the project director, Additional Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Assistant Commissioner Mattani, and Revenue Department officials, Riaz Mahsud emphasized the urgency of clearing all obstacles delaying the project. He directed the authorities to speed up land acquisition and streamline coordination for its timely execution.
He said the expressway would ease Peshawar’s traffic congestion, create jobs, and open new development avenues. “This project will divert heavy vehicles from GT Road and Ring Road,
significantly improving urban traffic flow,” he added.
