Chinese company briefed on energy projects

PESHAWAR: A delegation of Chinese investment company “China Century Steel Mills” met with the Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Energy Engr Tariq Sadozai in his office.

A handout said on Sunday, that Tariq Sadozai told the delegation that the energy sector in the province was of great importance and the economy could be stabilized by using the natural resources of energy with the investment of the private sector.

He added that the KP Transmission and Grid System Company (KPT&GSC), which was established in KP to utilize the electricity transmission system in the province in a better way, would utilize the cheap electricity generated by completed projects of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation.

Moreover, the Adviser to the Chief Minister on Power, Tila Muhammad, told a briefing that KPT&GSC would start three projects for the improvement of the electricity transmission system in the province. He said a 40 km long transmission line will be laid from Kalam to Madyan this year, which would cost Rs 8 billion and would be completed in 18 months.

In the second phase, an 80-kilometer-long transmission line would be laid from Madyan to Chakdara, which is estimated to cost. 16 to 18 billion.This project will be completed in four years.

The handout said the Chinese investment delegation expressed interest in investing in the proposed projects for the improvement of the electricity transmission system. Special Assistant Tariq Sadozai has welcomed the Chinese investment and called it a positive step towards the development and prosperity of the province.
