FAISALABAD: A shop owner allegedly tortured his 15-year-old employee to death and tried to disguise the crime as suicide by claiming that the boy drank petrol at Khurram Chowk.
According to the police report, Ali Raza from Tandlianwala was employed at Khurram’s spare parts shop. On February 5, Khurram informed Ali Raza’s father M Boota that his son had consumed petrol and was being taken to a hospital. Half an hour later, Khurram called again, stating that Ali Raza had passed away and that they were bringing his body to Satiana. Upon receiving the body, signs of torture and strangulation were found on Ali Raza. The police have registered a case against Khurram and another individual.
101 GCWUF STUDENTS GET RS4.2M IN SCHOLARSHIPS: A cheque distribution ceremony for the Interloop Need-Based Scholarship was held at Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) where 101 deserving students received financial assistance totalling Rs 4.2 million.
Vice Chancellor GCWUF Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen graced the occasion and personally distributed the cheques to the scholarship recipients. She advised the students to consider this scholarship not only an opportunity but also a responsibility and urged them to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits. She also commended Interloop Limited for providing financial assistance to deserving students, enabling them to sustain their education and contribute meaningfully to society.
The event was organised by the Student Financial Aid Office, led by Asma Zaheer, in collaboration with Interloop Limited. Colonel (Rtd) Ijaz Ahmad Nasir, special assistant to Chairman Interloop Limited represented Interloop at the ceremony, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to women’s education and empowerment. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Sadia Asim, Registrar, GCWUF, and Dr. Amara Javed, Additional Director of Media & Publications, GCWUF, along with faculty members and students. The scholarship recipients expressed gratitude for the financial support, acknowledging how it would ease their academic journey. The event concluded with a group photo, marking a memorable moment of encouragement and support for students striving for academic excellence.
NICF EXTENDS APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR 6TH COHORT: The National Incubation Centre Faisalabad (NICF), established at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, has extended the application date for its 6th Cohort till Feb 15.
