Uplift projects announced for UoP, Islamia College

PESHAWAR: Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud has announced development projects at the University of Peshawar and Islamia College University under Phase-II of the ‘Peshawar Uplift Programme.’

The initiatives, aimed at addressing key operational and security challenges, include traffic management measures, enhanced security protocols, and infrastructure upgrades.In a meeting chaired by Riaz Khan Mahsud, attended by officials from the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), district administration, and the university and college administrations, progress on earlier directives was reviewed.

The special committee, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance), presented a detailed report on actions taken, prompting new decisions to further enhance the institutions’ environment.

The commissioner directed the installation of tire busters to ensure one-way traffic compliance, restricted unnecessary vehicular movement, and improved security arrangements. “The measures taken so far have yielded positive results, and these additional projects will build on that momentum to provide a safer and more efficient environment for academic activities,” said Riaz Khan Mahsud.

Weekly progress reports have been sought from the committee to ensure timely implementation of these initiatives. The commissioner also reaffirmed his commitment to the uplift of educational institutions, highlighting the significance of collaboration among all stakeholders in achieving sustainable progress.
