DAGGAR: The members of the Khadokhel Tehsil Council in Buner district on Sunday condemned the murder of a woman teacher, Nargis Bibi, who was serving at the Government Primary School Jangdara.
The condemnation came at a meeting of the council, which denounced the incident as a failure of law-enforcement agencies and said it was an attempt to sabotage the efforts being made to promote education.
In a resolution passed by the council, the members praised Nargis Bibi for resisting her abduction and forced marriage while saving her elderly father’s life. The council demanded that the government should posthumously award her the presidential award in recognition of her courageous actions. The meeting, chaired by Tehsil Mayor Gulzar Hussain Babak, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic event and urged the Inspector General of Police to order an investigation into the case.
The meeting was informed that Nargis Bibi had repeatedly sought protection from local police, the district police officer, and the assistant commissioner, but no action was taken. The council acknowledged Nargis Bibi’s efforts in protecting her father from the attackers, despite being fatally shot in the process.
The Khadokhel Tehsil Council asked the federal and provincial governments to honour Nargis Bibi with a posthumous presidential award and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for her murder.
