LALAMUSA: An Overseas Pakistani businessman, Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, was swindled out of millions of rupees in a land deal gone wrong.
The businessman, originally from Marghzar Colony in Gujrat, was duped by a local man, who pretended to sell agricultural land in the city. According to the complaint filed by Chaudhry Khalid Hussain at Shaheen police station, the suspect initially convinced him to invest in a piece of agricultural land in Gujrat. The deal, which seemed legitimate at first, led Khalid to transfer a substantial amount of money to the suspect. However, despite receiving the funds, the man failed to hand over the promised land. When Khalid demanded the return of his money, the suspect attempted to evade responsibility by issuing a cheque worth Rs 8.4 million.
The situation took a turn for the worse when the cheque was presented for payment and subsequently dishonoured by the bank due to insufficient funds. The police have started investigation.
