Body formed to recover outstanding power dues

DIR: The district administration had constituted a committee to recover the outstanding electricity dues from the defaulters in Upper Dir.


The deputy commissioner formed the committee that included officials from the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), assistant commissioners, tehsil chairmen and police. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali Safi.

The outstanding electricity bills of two sub-divisions in Upper Dir have reached Rs2 billion while the total dues across the district have exceeded Rs3 billion.The deputy commissioner constituted the committee to recover the dues from the defaulters. The committee will take action against the defaulters and recover the outstanding dues. According to Wapda officials, the Education Department was among the top defaulters of electricity bills.

The meeting decided to form a joint plan to recover the electricity bills. Wapda Executive Engineer Hazrat Hassan said that the defaulters will be persuaded to pay the electricity bills. He said they would disconnect the electricity connections and lodge cases against the consumers, who failed to heed the warning.
