MULTAN: Commissioner Multan Division Maryam Khan Tuesday ordered the best facilities at wheat procurement centres.


Chairing a meeting, the commissioner ordered shaded waiting room and the provision of clean drinking water at all procurement centres.She said the Punjab government has set a purchase price of wheat as Rs 3,900 per maund. The commissioner said applications are being received on the Bardana app and it would be closed on April 17 at 12 pm. She urged farmers to cultivate wheat in a careful way as it is a staple food.

The commissioner said the Punjab Land Record Authority will verify the land ownership of the applications received from PITB.She said each farmer would be given six wheat sacks of 100 kg per acre from April 19 and wheat procurement will be started from April 22 and wheat will be purchased from farmers of 6 acres of land or less.

She asked the Agriculture Department to fulfill the target of early cotton cultivation, saying that cotton cultivation is indispensable for the recovery of the country’s economy.Deputy Director Food Shahid Khokhar said 45,604 farmers in the division have so far been registered for purchasing wheat. Director Agriculture Shahzad Sabir said the target of cotton cultivation in the Multan division has been set at 943,000 acres.
