Peshawar Press Club cabinet visits PIC

PESHAWAR: The newly elected cabinet and members of the governing body of Peshawar Press Club, led by President Arshad Aziz Malik, visited the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) on Thursday.

Prof Dr Shahkar Ahmed Shah, the medical director and chief executive of PIC-MTI, welcomed the visiting delegation and conducted an extensive tour of various hospital facilities. The tour included the Out-Patients Department, Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit, Pediatrics ward, and the unique Cardiac Rehabilitation Department.

During the visit, Prof Shahkar provided the delegation with insights into the hospital’s history, highlighting the available facilities, ongoing research collaborations with international health organizations, international certifications, and achievements since its inception on December 16, 2020. The seasoned cardiac surgeon also discussed the expansion plans of PIC’s satellite units in other districts of the province.

Dr Shahkar reiterated PIC’s commitment to providing international standard facilities to the people of the province, aiming to secure a prominent position not only within the province but also across Pakistan. He emphasised the crucial role of the media in raising public awareness about the hospital’s facilities, services, and success stories. He urged the PPC cabinet to continue its vital role in enhancing public awareness.

Peshawar Press Club president Arshad Aziz Malik lauded the facilities and services at the hospital, praising the efforts of the hospital administration and staff in delivering the best cardiac treatment facilities to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stressed the importance of highlighting the positive aspects of PIC and informing the public about its facilities, making it a priority for journalists to ensure that international standard treatment is accessible within the province.
