DIR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a convention in Upper Dir on Saturday despite enforcement of Section 144 in the district.

The enthusiast activists of PTI accorded a warm welcome to party leader Sher Afzal Marwat upon reaching the Dir town. Clashes between police and PTI workers also occurred due to Section 144 enforcement since November 21 in the area, resulting in injuries to several people. However, the PTI workers reached the convention venue in large numbers despite Section 144.

Speaking on the occasion, Sher Afzal Marwat said that February 8, the date set for general elections, would be “a day of accountability.”He said that several politicians had been undermining the country for the past 40 years. The plotters in Islamabad, listen, this country is ours, and the Pakistani armed forces are ours. In the past 40 years, those who destroyed the country are dreaming of ruling again,” he said.
