ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs conducted intelligence-based operations (IBOs) nationwide and seized items worth Rs14,981 million, recorded contravention cases worth Rs3,925 million, totalling Rs18,906 million, during the 77-day crackdown.
According to a press release issued here, several significant seizures took place during this period, with the highest occurring in Punjab, where Customs Intelligence seized smuggled goods worth Rs5,886 million, while operations in Sindh resulted in seizure of smuggled goods valued at Rs5,038 million.
In Balochistan, the Customs Intelligence team seized smuggled goods worth Rs2,823 million through IBOs. Similarly, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Customs Intelligence confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs1,234 million.
The major smuggling items seized included miscellaneous goods Rs2,904m, cigarettes Rs2,267m, vehicles Rs2,057m, auto/spare-parts Rs2,023m, betel nuts Rs1,013m, petrol Rs756m.
