Foreign currency seized at Torkham

LANDIKOTAL: The Pakistan Customs on Saturday foiled two separate bids to smuggle foreign currency to Afghanistan and arrested two persons, officials said.

Customs Inspector Moazzam Ali and Abdul Wajid Khan said that customs enforcement staff recovered 5,700 US dollars from an Afghan national during routine checking.

They said the foreign currency was being smuggled to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Customs recovered 14,200 euros from the luggage of an Afghan family at Torkham border. Officials said cases had been registered. It may be mentioned that Customs authorities impounded two trucks carrying Indian-made goods being smuggled to Pakistan in Torkham border.
