PESHAWAR: The elders of Kalakhel village have demanded of the chief executive of Tribal Electric Supply Company’s (Tesco) chief executive officer Engineer Zakaullah Khan Gandapur to fulfill his promise with them and ensure electricity supply to the area.
The power outages in the area have made life miserable for the people. “No electricity is supplied to the whole area, which has caused serious problems to the people. Due to the suspension of power supply, the residents of the area are facing water shortage,” said Abdul
Qayum Afridi, vice-chairman of the village council Kalakhel, while talking to The News.
Normally electricity is supplied for only four hours to the area and suspended for the remaining 20 hours, he said. The elders of the area led by town councilor Ali Akbar and Abdul Qayum held several meetings with the chief executive officer of Tesco, who assured them to resolve the problem, but it get worsened after the meeting.
Qayum said that the chief executive assured them to start power supply to them for eight hours in 24-hour on trial basis for ten days. For the purpose he asked them to hold a meeting with XEN Ikramullah Khan, he said.
“During our meeting with Ikramullah he straightaway turned down our demand and now even the four-hour supply of electricity to the entire area has been stopped, which has made life a
living hell for the people,” he said. He urged the Tesco chief to take notice of the issue and resolve it at the earliest.
