LAHORE

Police raided a weapons repairing factory and recovered a huge cache of spare parts of sophisticated weapons, ball-bearings and sharpeners on Monday.

CCPO Amin Wains said the raid was conducted after reconnaissance of factory, Sabri Mills and Spring Stores, situated on Railway Road, on information gathered under ‘triple one’- one man, one month and one information- system.

They arrested the factory owner, Malik Nazir Ahmad Sabri, and his brother Muhammad Asif Sabri, added the CCPO.

CCPO during the inspection of the factory told the media that the suspects used to prepare weapons for militants and criminals. They were carrying the business under the garb of repairing of weapons. They had a licence to repair weapons but it was also expired, he said and added they would manufacture weapons from different spare parts and sell these weapons in different cities.

They were also involved in supply of weapons to banned outfits too. Wains added that the suspects bought these spare parts from weapon dealers so the later would also included in the investigations. He said the factory was a three-storey building that was filled with illegal weapons and spare parts.

On a question about the names or details of outfits the weapon was supplied, he said that this would come to know after further investigation and that information would be shared with the media. He said they had sufficient information to claim that these weapons were not being supplied to gentlemen but to anti-society elements.  The CCPO lauded the efforts of DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf and his team on taking effective action against miscreants under the National Action Plan.
