PMDC president pledges zero tolerance for corruption

Professor Shabbir Ahmad Lehri on Thursday assumed the charge of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) president.

He was elected the PMDC president lately.

After assuming the charge, the PMDC president called a meeting of the organisation’s officers and said he would promote medical and dental education in the country in line with the international standards.

While stressing the need for improving the image of the PMDC in the eyes of the stakeholders, he said he won’t tolerate corruption in the organisation at all.

“From now on, there will be zero tolerance for corruption here (PMDC),” he said.

Professor Shabbir said he would ensure the streamlining of the PMDC affairs and would ensure adherence to merit and transparency at all levels.

He said he would turn the organisation into a very vibrant, effective and friendly for the medical and dental practitioners of the country.

The PMDC president said he would also ensure the speedy yet effective resolution of the grievances of doctors and dentists during his term in office.

Meanwhile, the formation of the new PMDC executive committee was also notified in the day.

According to a government’s notification, the eight-member committee will have a term of four years.

It has Professor Shabbir Ahmad Lehri as president, Professor Abid Zaheer Farooqi as vice president and Dr Aamir Hussain, Dr Taj Muhammad, Dr Farrukh Ejaz, Dr Feroz Jahangir, Dr Mussarat Hussain and Dr Shafiqur Rehman as members.
