Though the morning and nighttime foggy conditions in the capital city have begun to ease, Pakistan Meteorological Department sees no rainfall in the current week.

For many days, in the morning and at night, thick fog blanketed vast swaths of Punjab, especially Lahore, Pattoki, Okara, Bahawalpur, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Multan, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal and Bhakkar, and Islamabad reducing visibility significantly.

Besides inconveniencing motorists and motorcyclists, the thick haze caused suspension of many flights and delays in train arrivals and departures as well.

Also, several routes of motorway remained closed to traffic due to zero or poor visibility.

However, things began to get better on Tuesday night to the relief of road users.

According to a forecasting officer of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Islamabad, there is no chance of rain falling in Islamabad and adjoining areas during the current week.

He said if the foggy conditions continued, there was a little likelihood of rainfall in the next week, too.

The weatherman said fog would continue to prevail in plain areas of Punjab, Peshawar division and upper Sindh during night and morning hours and that mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country during the next few days.

He, however, said the easing of foggy conditions increased the visibility on the roads with Bahawalpur reporting visibility of 400 meters, Jhelum and Sialkot 600 meters, Faisalabad 700 meters, Multan and Toba Tek Singh 1,000 meters and Lahore 1,200 metres.
