Sacked factory workers seek reinstatement
PESHAWAR: The sacked workers of Phillip Moriss in Swabi staged protested along with their family members here on Saturday. Carrying placards and banners, the sacked workers of factory gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club. The workers chanted slogans against the management of the factory for what they called their illegal expulsion. Holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans asking for the reinstatement of the workers, the demonstrators asked the quarters concerned in the government to take note of the matter and save the right of the workers. Speaking on the occasion, the union leaders said that the 141 workers were sacked in Swabi and Charsadda. The company had said that the decision was taken as a result of the unprecedented rise in illicit cigarette trade which has seriously impacted legal tobacco sales.
