New Argentinean envoy offers to give lecturers to Pakistani students
Islamabad
New Ambassador of Argentina Ivan Ivanissevich on Friday offered to give lecturers in Pakistani schools, colleges and universities as an academician.
"I wish to deliver lectures and talk in schools, colleges and universities to share my wide experience of education with Pakistani students. As an academician, I've already taught International Relations in Quaid-i-Azam University during my previous ambassadorial tenure in the country," he told Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Balighur Rehman during a meeting here.
The minister welcomed the offer and said Pakistani youth knew very little about Latin America and it would be a great opportunity for them to learn from the ambassador's broad experience about his region of the world and his experience of education sector.
Ivan Ivanissevich has been reappointed as the ambassador of Argentina to Pakistan, the second time, after eight years of his previous tenure.
Ambassador of Argentina said that they want to collaborate in trade, cultural and educational programs with Pakistan. He said that there are certain problems faced by Argentina in the realm of education and there is no harm in discussing them. Because honesty always leads you to the better destinations, said the ambassador.
“Literacy rate and quality of education was way better in Argentina back in 60’s, but now the literacy rate has gone down to 85 per cent from 99 per cent, which is a big concern for us. Moreover he said that we have certain socio-economic problems as well in our country due to which our education system has been affected," he said.
The ambassador said he and his team from the Embassy of Argentina in Pakistan would like to work with the government of Pakistan in the education sector.
The minister asked the ambassador to pursue the accords and agreements signed between the two countries in order to have better exchange programmes between the two.
"We should have exchange programs of students and teachers collaboration in research and scholarships for the students in both the countries," he said. The minister said there were certain problems in our education system, but things are getting improved now. He informed the ambassador about the current scenario of education in Pakistan. The minister later presented a token of appreciation to the ambassador.
