Corruption action

This refers to the news report, ‘Nisar sees efforts for undemocratic ouster of government’ (April 14). According to the report, the minister said that someone had dispatched a file of complaints relating to a senior politician to him. What is he waiting for? He should order an investigation forthwith. We are worried about offshore companies whereas the reality is that we are badly infected with corruption in whatever department you name.

No doubt we are a young democracy and we cannot compare ourselves with developed nations. But once we start cleaning from the top, we will be able to rid ourselves of corruption in a few years. Imran Khan is right in demanding a thorough investigation into the Sharif family’s offshore accounts, but by no means is he permitted to surround the house of the PM in Raiwind or anybody else’s. Parliament and the PM’s Secretariat is the best place to sort out political problems. The interior minister should seize the opportunity and start accountability so that by the time his term in office comes to an end, a great deal of progress would have been achieved.
