CCTV cameras at Safari Zoo
CM Reforms Programme
LAHORE
Punjab Wildlife Department has decided to install CCTV cameras at Safari Zoo at an estimated cost of Rs 7 million.
This was announced by Wildlife and Parks, Punjab Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan in a meeting on Thursday. He said cameras will be installed in June 2016 while construction of boundary wall has been started.
Khalid Ayaz Khan said that security of rare and costly animals and birds besides safety of visitors will be ensured at Safari Zoo. He said installation of cordless cameras will help in monitoring of animals and birds besides keeping an eye on the activities of visitors.
He said besides installation of new cameras, the existing cameras will also be made operational. These cameras were at present not working due to damage of underground cables. He said an 8-feet high brick wall will be constructed around Safari Zoo.
The project will cost Rs 500,0000. He said at present, there is chain link boundary around the park which is not sufficient for the security of expensive and rare animals and birds as well as visitors.
He said steps are being taken for providing maximum facilities to the visitors coming to Safari Zoo Park. He said future projects include free Wi-Fi facility and negotiations are being held with PTCL and other institutions for this purpose.
