Athletes given away cash prizes in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakht-unkhwa Junaid Khan distributed cash prizes among the athletes who won medals for the country here at the Peshawar Sports Complete on Tuesday.
Assistant Director Azizullah and other officials were also present on the occasion. A total of Rs1.5 million cash prizes were distributed among 18 athletes.Junaid said the cash prizes were aimed at extending financial support to the players.
He said the people associated with sports were an example and aspiration for new talented athletes as these players continued their struggle and hard work despite limited resources and opportunities.
He said the Directorate General of Sports was playing its role in promotion of sports and welfare of athletes.The athletes who were awarded cash prizes included bodybuilder Muhammad Numan, swimmer Maaz Akhtar, Asmat Ali (skiing), Saifullah and Abdur Rehman (full contact karate), blind cricketers Riyasat Khan and Sanaullah, Samiullah and Abdul Rauf (hockey).
