The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has released Rs200 million for the security of government educational institutions in Islamabad.
This information was shared with the media by Minister of State for CADD Barrister Usman Ibrahim during a visit to local schools and colleges.
“In light of the estimates given by the Pakistan Public Works Department, we’ve released Rs200 million for the first phase of the plan meant to make government educational institutions in the city along with their students and staff more safe and secure,” he said.
The minister said the money would be used to raise the height of boundary walls and to install razor wires on them.
He said he had formed a committee to procure material for the purpose and that the committee consisting of the representatives of CADD, PWD and FDE and CADD would ensure transparency and fairness of the exercise.
The minister said he had asked the relevant officials to update him daily on the status of work on security arrangements at schools and colleges to ensure its speedy completion.
He said schools and colleges would issue identification cards to students, teachers and staff members, who would be bound to wear them on the premises all the time.
