Six-year-old girl drowns

TOBA TEK SINGH: A six-year-old girl drowned in a canal at Rajana on Tuesday.
Aleeza Noor was playing along Gogera Branch Canal outside her house when she suddenly slipped and fell into the canal and drowned. Her body was recovered after hectic struggle.

Murder convict pardoned by victim family

TOBA TEK SINGH: A murder convict, Aslam, who was to be hanged on Wednesday in the District Jail, was pardoned by the deceased’s family on Tuesday.
Jail Superintendent Jam Asif Iqbal said that the family of deceased Arshad had presented a reconciliation agreement before a court. To it, the court ordered the jail authorities not to hang the convict. The convict had killed Arshad over an irrigation water dispute in 2002.
