Blind girl wins Naat competition

MANSEHRA: A girl from Abbottabad without eyesight won the second Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Naat competition here on Wednesday. The Right to Live organisation, a nongovernmental organisation working for the uplift of people with disabilities, had organised the competition.
Eighteen male and female members from Peshawar, Swat, Mardan, Swabi, Haripur, Battagram, Abbottabad, Mansehra and other parts of the province participated in the competition. The top three positions were bagged by visually impaired contestants Saba Pervez from Abbottabad, Shafiullah from Mardan and Mohammad Tassadiq from Abbottabad.
Sahibzada Jawad Alfaizi, the managing director of Saibaan, led a panel of judges. “The provincial government is going to enact a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Disability Act soon to give right to people with disabilities. You should submit your suggestions in this regard,” said Amara Khattak, the Hazara additional commissioner, while speaking on the occasion as chief guest. She said that the Naat competition was a step in the right direction as people with disabilities were given due respect and honour through such acceptance of abilities. Member Provincial Assembly Nargus Ali said that she was very much pleased to attend such gatherings.
