Twin cities to have cloudy, foggy and severe cold weather till next week

The residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will face cloudy, foggy and severe cold weather till next week. The temperature of twin cities will further decrease to one degree Celsius in a couple of days.

For some days, residents, particularly in morning and night time, are facing severe cold because of foggy. 

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), there was 3 degree Celsius temperature here in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Sunday.

PMD Director Dr Muhammad Hanif told ‘The News’ that nearby hilly areas of Murree and Nathia Gali received heavy snowfall in previous days. The cold waves are coming from nearby hilly areas. Secondly, cloudy and foggy weather also persistent here to increase cold. People of twin cities would face severe weather some days more, he claimed.

Foggy conditions in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad early Sunday morning troubled motorists due to low visibility on roads. Air and rail traffic also is affected due to low visibility. According to Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA), Islamabad Inquiry Office, a total of 22 flights have disturbed its arrival and departure timings on Sunday because of foggy weather.

Motorists were seen driving their vehicles with fog lights on Benazir Bhutto Road, Airport Road and Jhelum Road. However no accident was reported. It was observed that cold-stricken people were sitting around fire to warm their body here on Sunday.
