Condolences continue to pour for Mir Javed Rahman
KARACHI: Condolences continue to pour for the death of Chairman Jang Group and printer and publisher of the Jang Group of Publications Mir Javed Rahman who passed away on Tuesday, March 31.
Expressing condolences during Geo News programme Capital Talk, the State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said he is personally saddened over the demise of the Chairman Jang Group and recalled that he used to read weekly Mag and Akhbar-e-Jahan during his youth. Terming the two magazines as a great contribution to the media industry and journalism and as a model of information and awareness to the society. The Minister of State also expressed condolences with Mir Javed's family on behalf of the PTI and the Prime Minister Imran Khan.
President Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry Razak Khan and President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anjum Nisar also expressed his condolences over passing away of Mir Javed Rahman. In their messages they said both Mir Javed and his family have selflessly served the country. He said Mir Shakil is under unlawful custody of NAB which is outright persecution. The Jang-Geo Group is a major media house of the country as well a big business house that has contributed to country's economy. Mir Shakil's release will be seen as easing of curbs on the free media and freedom of expression. On the other hand NAB and similar anti-graft organsiations of the government require a behavorial change so as not to be seen as the government's coercive arm to allow promotion of business, investment and freedom of expression.
Expressing his grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Chairman Jang Group, MNA Nawab Yusuf Talpur and member PPP CEC has prayed to Allah Almighty for granting eternal peace to the deceased and granting courage to his family to bear the loss. Talpur said the entire nation widely respects Mir Javed's contribution to the media and demands withdrawal of unjust and illegal NAB cases against his younger brother Mir Shaikilur Rehman.
Similarly, the Pakistan Medical Association also condoled the death of Chairman Jang Group, Mir Javed Rahman. In a meeting chaired by Secretary General, Pakistan Medical Association, Dr S M Qaisar Sajjad, participated by senior members and office bearers, it expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Mir Javed Rahman. They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and granting courage to the family to bear the loss.
Eulogising Mir Javed Rahman for his services to the media industry and journalism which will always be remembered, the PMA termed it a great loss.
