Reply sought in CJP security letter leak case
LAHORE:The Lahore High Court on Friday sought reply from the Punjab government on a petition seeking directions to fix responsibility and take action against the persons behind leaking a letter about provision of security to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed.
LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh was hearing a petition moved by advocate Azhar Siddique, pleading that CJP never demanded security but the Punjab government on its own issued a notification pertaining to provision of security to CJP. Later on, the notification became viral on social media in violation of cyber laws. He said the hidden hands behind the incident should be exposed and punished accordingly.
The petitioner requested the court to direct the Punjab government to fix the responsibility and take action against them. After hearing initial arguments, the court directed the Punjab government and other respondents to submit their replies by next date of hearing.
