Asfandyar warns against rollback of 18th Amendment
NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) head Asfandyar Wali Khan said on Monday that the country could plunge into a serious crisis if the 18th Constitutional Amendment was done away with.
Addressing a public gathering here, he said that his party would not allow the construction of the Kalabagh dam as the project was not in the interest of the province.
ANP central General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, former chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, former federal minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, ANP provincial head Aimal Khan Wali, Sardar Hussain Babak and others also spoke on the occasion.
Asfandyar Wali said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was victimizing its political opponents in the name of accountability. He alleged that a close relative of Prime Minister Imran Khan was involved in corruption, but no action was taken against him. The ANP head advised the federal government to resolve the issue of the wheat flour and its shortage as it could damage harmony among the people of smaller provinces.
He said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be compelled to suspend the supply of electricity and gas to Punjab if the ban on the movement of wheat flour was not lifted. Asfandyar Wali said that the PTI government could not deliver on its pledges and the rulers were indulging in non-issues.
He added that the economic managers of the PTI government had failed to revive the economy. He said that the country was on the verge of going bankrupt due to the flawed policies of the rulers. He added that the government lacked the vision and the ability to turn the economy around and it was yet to provide any relief to the people.
