Medical store looted

LAHORE: Five dacoits broke into a medical store in the Kot Lakhpat area on Sunday, and looted Rs 52,000 and an expensive cell phone.

Five robbers carrying guns stormed into the medical store and took its owner hostage at gunpoint. They collected Rs 52,000 from the cash box, snatched a cell phone from the shopkeeper and fled.

Cop dies: A constable died after falling off a roof at Police Lines on Sunday.

The constable identified as Ashiq Hussain was performing duty on the roof when he suddenly fell on the ground. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

burns: A 20-year-old youth suffered burns after a fire broke out in a paint shop at Mohafiz Town on Defence Road on Sunday. The injured youth has been identified as Adnan, son of Pervez. He was admitted to Lahore General Hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

firing: Harbanspura police have failed to control setting off fireworks and firing into the air outside marriage halls.

Though display of fireworks and sound of firing are heard by the residents of Sahafi Colony and other housing societies on a daily basis, Locals said police were not taking action against the owners of the marriage halls and the violators.

Body found: A body of a woman was recovered from her Johar Town house on Sunday. The deceased identified as Huma lived alone. Evidence implied that she was murdered.

quack centres: The Punjab Healthcare Commission has sealed 42 centres of quacks during the last week. The PHC enforcement teams had raided 275 treatment centres in six cities, including 93 centres in Okara and Depalpur where 12 quackery outlets were sealed. On other hand, 14 centres in Narowal, 11 in Jhang and five were locked down in Toba Tek Singh.
