Film remake: LHC notices to govt, others
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the federal government and other respondents over issuance of copy rights certificate to the producer of remake of hit 1979 Punjabi movie Maula Jatt. On an application of the original movie producer, Sarwar Bhatti, Justice Aminuddin Khan of the LHC directed the respondents to submit their replies till April 4. Ahsan Masood Advocate, counsel for the petitioner, submitted in the court that Bilal Lashari, director of the planned remake, and his other team members got issued an illegal copy rights certificate from the department concerned. He stated that his client, Sarwar Bhatti, already has the copy rights of the said movie, and therefore any such certificate could not be issued to anyone. He pleaded with the court to cancel the copy rights certificate issued to the director of remake of Maula Jatt.
