‘Regulatory duty on steel to go’
LAHORE: Regulatory duty on steel will be abolished, while government has deferred second phase of free trade agreement (FTA) with China on the demand of the business community, a government official said on Wednesday.
Talking to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Malik Tahir Javaid, Federal Minister for Commerce and Textile Muhammd Pervez Malik said that concrete measures are being taken to boost exports.
New and unconventional avenues are being focused for Pakistani merchandise to yield the desired results, he said, adding that the role of the business community is important for economic stability of the country.
The government has opened all economic areas to achieve the goals of economic growth, he said, and urged the private sector to become proactive to meet international standards and better marketing of products to compete effectively.
