Car-lifting gang busted as ACLC arrests three

Officials of the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) claim to have busted a car-lifting gang from Punjab operating in the city, and arrested three of its nine members in a raid.

According to ACLC SSP Asad Raza, taking note of the increasing number of car thefts being reported from District Central over the past three months, the Central Investigation Agency DIGP had issued directives that a special team be formed to arrest the gang behind the thefts.

Raza said that under the supervision of the North Nazimabad DIO, the team conducted a raid at Qalandria Chowk, Nazimabad, and arrested three suspects. Five stolen cars were seized from them.

The arrested suspects were identified as Rustam Ali, Muhammad Shahzad, and Imtiaz Ali. The SSP further said that the gang, which comprises nine members, has been involved in hundreds of incidents of car theft in Lahore, Faisalabad and Okara for the past 20 years.

He added that since December 2017, the gang had stolen more than 50 cars of different brands and models from various parts of District Central. Other members of the gang who are yet to be arrested include, Azeem Sindhi, Nadeem, Sher Baqar, Riaz Ahmed, Jajju and Irfan Kashmiri Qalandria Chowk Wala. The officer added that they have contacted authorities in Punjab to arrest the gang members who are still at large and recover the remaining stolen vehicles.
