This refers to the news report, ‘Rangers raid Nine-Zero, recover Nato weapons, military gear’ (March 12). It is a well-known fact that criminals – in some cases supported by political parties – have made Karachi hostage. Karachiites are fed up with the law and order situation in the city where all forms of crimes are rampant. The Supreme Court in its verdict had declared that armed wings in some political parties are mainly responsible for this sorry state of affairs.
The Rangers supported by the police have been tasked by the federal and provincial governments to bring the Karachi law and order situation under control and they made huge successes in this regard. The DG Rangers has declared that the security personnel are apprehending criminals without any discrimination. It should also be realised that the Rangers have the support of Karachi’s public at large. Let us all rise above our vested interests and support all lawful actions for the restoration of peace in the economic hub of Pakistan.
