'Geo Khelo Pakistan': JS Bank gifts a BMW X1 to Sarfraz

KARACHI: Pakistani cricket team’s captain Sarfraz Ahmed, who has recently returned to Pakistan after winning the ICC Champions Trophy final against India, was welcomed with enthusiasm in Pakistan’s biggest game show ‘Geo Khelo Pakistan’. When Sarfraz entered the venue, people in the auditorium stood up to show respect for the stunning victory of Pakistan against India.

Sarfraz Ahmed was welcomed with a round of applause. In ‘Geo Khelo Pakistan’, Sarfraz Ahmed was gifted a BMW X1 by the Dewan Motors and JS Bank’s deputy chief executive officer. In the same show, it was also announced that Sarfraz Ahmed will be awarded a 250-yard plot in the Bahria Town.

On the whole, people alsowon various prizes: nine motorbikes, four tolah gold, a lot of exciting gift hampers and millions of rupees. While expressing his views, Sarfraz Ahmed said that he was realising that it was a remarkable victory only after reaching Pakistan.

He said: “First of all, I want to thank Allah for helping us and the entire nation to achieve this goal. I also want to thank the entire nation for relentlessly praying for Pakistani team during Ramazan. After losing from India, we were not so motivated. However, the cricket board management and former cricketers kept supporting us, which boosted our spirits. I kept telling all my team members that whatever has happened, just leave it behind and be in your natural form to give your best. Each player worked really hard before the matches. They deserve all the praise.

The boys (players) adopted a great strategy and maintained a great pace of winning throughout the tournament. The main credit goes to excellent bowling that helped us clinch this title. Hasan Ali is getting better day by day. Junaid Khan’s rhythm is brilliant and he has become a wicket-taking bowler.

Our spirits went sky-high after winning the match against South Africa. In the match against Sri Lanka, we tried to take the wickets even faster. Amir also supported really well. When we saw the scoreboard, we were almost about to win. I was getting nervous by watching the scoreboard again and again. The way in which Sri Lanka missed all the catches, we thought that angels were helping us to win this match.

We had already played against England before. Therefore, we were aware that we have to be a little fierce in our approach and be natural. After winning the semi-final, the team got extremely confident of its approach. In the match against England, there were more Pakistanis to cheer us in the ground than the people of England. This just helped us keep going forward to achieve our goal.

In the first match against India, we made a couple of mistakes. However, after playing a lot of matches we had become quite clear that we can defeat any team that faces us now.

On the night of final match, we were not able to sleep whole night due to anxiety. As the people in ground were cheering for us, it was just lifting our spirits. After giving a strong target, we had decided now we have to attack Indian team through our bowling and take as many wickets as possible. In the final match, Mohammad Amir gave a brilliant performance.

After Rohit Sharma went out, we were ready to defeat the Indian team. After becoming the champions, the entire team was eagerly waiting to wear the white coats. After holding the trophy, our bodies were shaking due to excitement. Overall, the experience of winning cannot be described in words.”

Then few games were played in ‘Geo Khelo Pakistan’. First of all, a game was played between two couples where the men were to ride on a bike and pluck as many flowers as possible for their wives. Then, both men held the flowers in their hands and praised their wives, as a part of the game. The audience declared them winners by giving them a thundering round of applause. Each couple got a motorbike for winning the game.  Sarfraz Ahmed said that he had never praised his wife like this. He added that now he would adopt these techniques to praise his wife at home.

In the “spin the wheel, test your destiny” segment, six people were called and all of them won gift hampers. Out of them, one won a lawn suit, while others won gift hampers.

In the “Khul Kar Khelo” segment, four families were called on the stage through a lucky draw. They won two-lac worth bed set, a kitchen set, a juicer blender, one tolah gold, two microwaves, room refrigerators, two return tickets of Dubai, a split AC, a washing machine and a jewellery set.

On this event, a man was called on the stage to open a box. The man raised slogans in favour of Pakistan, Sarfraz Ahmed and Geo TV as soon as he reached the stage. He chanted: “Sarfraz Ahmed Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad, Geo TV Zindabad.” He also mimicked Maula Jutt and Noori Nath along with Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram. He was awarded a motorbike without asking any question.
