Corps commander praises FC’s role in restoring peace

53rd Frontier Corps Week

PESHAWAR: Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Hidayat ur Rehman said here Saturday that the Frontier Corps (FC) as a force was second to none.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 53rd Frontier Corps Week at the Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium, said a communique. 

The Corps Commander lauded the efforts of FC for bringing stability and restoring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). 

He said the purpose of the observing the “Frontier Corps Week” was to celebrate the martial spirit and cultural norms of the FC.

The FC commandoes, including women, exhibited their skills at the impressive and colourful opening ceremony.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa displayed their skills during the drill. Both male and female members of the SOG took part in the drill.

The martial Khattak and Chitrali dances were also performed by the Frontier Corps (FC) men as the beating of drums created excitement among the spectators at the stadium. 

The Kalash women from Chitral performed the Kalash dance, which was enjoyed by the onlookers. The Kalash women also presented tableaus.

The FC band played national and cultural tunes to entertain the invitees. 

The tent pegging competition added colour to the event. 

Different stalls had been set up to highlight and promote the culture of KP. The diversity of the culture prevalent in different parts of the province was put on display to enlighten the people.

Earlier on his arrival, the Corps Commander was received by Inspector General Frontier Corps Major General Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood.
