DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Re hman on Wednesday asked how a non-serious petition could become maintainable overnight as it raised many questions. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should not have been allowed to form the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
“The PTI-led government has been unable to deliver on its pledges,” he told a press conference here. He said the PTI supporters should have observed a repentance day instead of a ‘thanksgiving’ day.
Fazlur Rehman said that a petition on the Panama Papers was earlier described as non-maintainable, but now it was made maintainable, which raised many questions.“If there is no legal and constitutional obstacle, our party has no objection to it,” he said commenting on the maintainability of the petition. He said that everybody had the right to protest but the law of the land must not be violated. He added that it was a moral victory for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who didn’t raise any objection to the maintainability of the petition on the PanamaLeaks.
He said the petitioner was openly saying that the petition was being heard under pressure from the PTI. “If the apex court made the decision as a result of pressure, we should be worried,” he added.
About the remarks of Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak that the PTI was Pathan, the JUI-F leader said that he didn’t deserve to be the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Maulana said that the people had rejected the politics of agitation. He said the PTI couldn’t gather 3,000 people.
He added that the federal government should have taken timely action to prevent the PTI from marching on Islamabad as it created problems for the common people. The JUI-F leader said the protest created an impression that the PTI didn’t care for the supremacy of the judiciary and parliament. He maintained that no rally was taken out from Sindh and Punjab to attend the protest in Islamabad, which showed the PTI didn’t have support in other provinces.
