PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday extended the protective bail of five Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders till November 27 and restrained law enforcement agencies from arresting them until that date.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Sahibzada Asadullah heard the petitions. Advocates Alam Khan Adinzai and Basheer Wazir appeared for the petitioners, including Muhammad Atif Khan, Shahid Khattak, Khadija Shah, Nadia Khattak and Senator Mashal Yousafzai.

The counsels for the petitioners informed the court that several FIRs had been registered against their clients after the November 24 protest. They said the petitioners were appearing in courts in connection with known cases but were unaware of how many more cases had been lodged against them. The lawyers requested the court to direct the federal government to provide complete details of the cases.

The court was told that the federal government and the institutions concerned had not yet submitted their reports. The bench then extended the petitioners’ protective bail till November 27 and issued notices to the federal government and other institutions to submit their responses before the next hearing.
