On directives of Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, one hundred commandos of the Special Security Unit (SSU) have been deployed at highly sensitive locations in Kashmore district during the construction of the Kandhkot-Ghotki Bridge.

Officials said the bridge had been declared to be of significant geographical and security importance. In this context, to ensure its foolproof security, SSU commandos in collaboration with the district police would remain permanently stationed at the construction site.

They would continue to perform their duties until the completion of the bridge, providing security to the staff and workers present at the site. Larkana DIG Nasir Aftab, SSU DSP Adil Naqvi and other senior officers visited the construction site and reviewed the security arrangements. The DIG expressed satisfaction at the security measures taken for the under-construction bridge.

So far, the construction site has been divided into different categories based on sensitivity, and SSU commandos have been deployed at the most sensitive locations to ensure timely response to any potential threat.

Security & Emergency Services Division DIG Dr Maqsood Ahmed issued directives to the SSU commandos to ensure peace and order in the area at all cost and to deal with any miscreants or anti-peace elements with an iron fist. He stated that the SSU was a professional, well-trained and modernly equipped unit of the Sindh police fully capable of playing an effective role in every difficult situation.
