Govt-backed panel wins majority in Islamabad bar council polls

ISLAMABAD: According to unofficial results of the Islamabad Bar Council elections, the government-backed group of Ahsan Bhoon and Azam Nazir Tarar secured three out of five seats, while the Hamid Khan group and an independent candidate won one seat each.
As per the results, Abdul Rehman Bajwa led the contest with 1,369 votes, followed by Raja Aleem Abbasi with 1,351 votes, Chaudhry Hafeezullah Yaqoob with 1,295 votes, Muhammad Zafar Khokhar with 1,288 votes, and Asif Irfan with 1,126 votes.
The successful candidates from the Ahsan Bhoon and Azam Nazir Tarar group included Abdul Rehman Bajwa, Raja Aleem Abbasi, and Asif Irfan.
