IGP wants e-challan system to be introduced in Sindh’s other districts

Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon on Friday chaired the first review meeting on the performance of the “faceless e-ticketing system”, directing that strict action should be taken against vehicles plying without number plates in the province.

Officials said the IGP was told that after the implementation of faceless ticketing, the series of manual challans has completely ended in Karachi. The meeting was attended by the additional IGs of welfare and training, the Safe City DG, the DIGs of crime and investigations, establishment, headquarters, Karachi traffic, IT, Karachi admin, driving licence and finance and AIGs held at the Central Police Office.

The meeting was given a briefing on the faceless e-ticketing facility in the city and its various issues. The facility has been implemented in Karachi since October 27. The regular implementation of the new traffic law continues to be welcomed and encouraged in various public circles. Along with the encouragement of this system from the public, questions, positive suggestions and recommendations are also being received.

The meeting was further informed that the establishment of the Karachi Traffic Management Board is indispensable to ensure road safety infrastructure. The meeting considered various options to introduce the faceless e-challan facility in other districts of Sindh. It was suggested that until the implementation of the safe city project in other districts, the faceless e-ticketing facility can be introduced through government cameras installed on busy highways and places and special arrangements.

IGP Memon said our main goal is to prevent traffic accidents and ensure traffic discipline. The main cause of accidents is speeding, and strict action should be taken against this violation, he said and added that the faceless e-ticketing facility should be taken to other districts.

He further said that suggestions should be given regarding the installation of CCTV cameras on busy highways of other districts of the province, the establishment of traffic facilitation centres should be ensured in every district of the province, the traffic police helpline 1915 should be expanded to other districts, and public awareness regarding the speed limit of vehicles should be ensured.

Meanwhile, a letter was moved to the Training Department of the Sindh Police upon which two sessions took place. Officials said that with the implementation of faceless e-ticketing, the Sindh Police have decided to provide training awareness to all police drivers of Karachi. On the directions of the IGP, training awareness will be organized by the Training Department.

A one-day training awareness will be provided to 925 drivers from different departments of the Sindh Police based in Karachi. The awareness programme consisting of two sessions will be organized on November 1 at Scout Auditorium, Karachi. A letter has been sent by the DIG Training to the additional IG Karachi, DIGs Traffic Karachi, T&T, RRF, SPU, Crime and Investigations, CTD and Special Branch.

The letter reads that faceless e-ticketing (TRACS) has been implemented after the approval of the Sindh government. The training, on the instructions of the IGP, aims to strengthen the professional skills of police drivers and provide them with awareness and knowledge about the new TRACS/traffic law.

The correspondence has requested all officers to ensure that police drivers posted in their departments participate in awareness sessions. For Karachi range, 500 personnel, 100 from Traffic Karachi, 100 from T&T, 50 from RRF, 25 from SPU/CPEC, 25 from Crime and Investigation, 25 from CTD, 50 from Special Branch and 50 from DIG Training Branch will be trained on the new traffic system in two sessions respectively.

The training sessions will be started from November 1, 2025 at Scouts Auditorium/Sindh Boys Scout Association near DIG South Office.
