Controversial tweet case : Prosecution submits supplementary challan
ISLAMABAD: The prosecution submitted a 35-page supplementary challan against Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in the controversial tweet case.
During the hearing before Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka, Prosecutor Muhammad Usman Rana presented the challan, which included notifications on the ban of the TTP, BLA, and PTM, and made references to other figures such as Mahrang Baloch, Manzoor Pashteen, and Ali Wazir. Following a break in the proceedings, the defendants declined to receive the supplementary challan.
The accused, Hadi Ali Chatha, argued that the prosecution had previously been focused on recording witness statements and that the new challan was presented unexpectedly. Judge Majuka remarked that the case could not proceed if the challan was not accepted and their legal counsel was not present. The defence lawyers requested more time for legal preparation, leading the court to adjourn the hearing until October 25.
In a separate case, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abu Al-Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain extended the judicial remand of 87 arrested workers of a religious group until November 3. The extension was ordered because the identity parade had not been completed. The investigating officer had requested the remand extension.
