ISLAMABAD: The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, has confirmed another wild poliovirus (WPV1) case from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising the total count for 2025 to 30.

According to Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme, the latest case has been detected in a 12-month-old boy from Union Council Ghari in District Torghar, KP. This is the second case reported from Torghar this year, highlighting the virus continues to circulate in some high-risk districts of KP despite extensive immunisation drives. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa now accounts for 19 of total 30 cases reported in 2025. Sindh has recorded nine cases, while Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan one case each.
