Govt raises RLNG prices up to 2pc for October amid import cost hike
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the price of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) by up to 2 percent for consumers of both Sui Northern and Sui Southern Gas companies for October, citing higher import costs.
According to a notification from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), SNGPL consumers will see RLNG prices rise by 1.81 percent, while SSGC users will face a two percent increase. The transmission price for SNGPL climbed 1.79 percent to $11.4381 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), and the distribution rate rose 1.81 percent to $12.2300 per MMBtu. For SSGC, transmission costs increased by 1.99 percent to $10.0585 per MMBtu, and the distribution rate jumped 2 percent to $11.2304 per MMBtu.
The new rates factor in terminal charges, transmission losses, port handling, and margins for state-run importer PSO.
Prices are based on eight LNG cargoes imported under long-term contracts with Qatar, of which five were priced at a higher slope of 13.37 percent of Brent crude and three at 10.20 percent.
Ogra said the adjustment follows government policy guidelines and reflects costs of LNG imports, re-gasification, and related infrastructure.
